Christchurch Hospital Parkside Building
Ampac protects Christchurch Hospital Parkside Building.
The South Island’s largest hospital has begun upgrading its Ampac EWIS and Fire Alarm systems. This project consisted of an upgrade of Parkside’s Emergency Warning System, from the legacy Ampac EV3000 to our fully NZS 4512:2021 compliant EvacU Elite.
The Challenge
A hospital is an environment where there can be no downtime. Therefore, the fire and evacuation system had to be upgraded with no disruption to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants.
The Solution
5 FireFinderPLUS and 3 EvacU Elite panels have been installed at the Christchurch Hospital Parkside Building.
Both the FireFinder Plus and EvacU Elite systems are on their own individual peer-to-peer networks, coming together through a high-level interface.
In this configuration, the FireFinderPLUS passes fire alarm information to the EvacU Elite on an emergency zone basis. The EvacU Elite can be programmed to have a specific evacuation sequence for each emergency zone. Bespoke messages and warning tones can be created and configured to meet the site-specific Emergency Management Plan. This can be uploaded to the EvacU Elite by using the free Ampac software.
In the Christchurch Hospital Parkside Building case, 23 evacuation zones and a 6 Message Evacuation scheme have been set up, ensuring the orderly evacuation of staff, patients and visitors in the event of an emergency.
