Cancer Council SA

Ampac protects Cancer Council SA’s new building, a home for all South Australians impacted by cancer.

Cancer Council SA is a new building combining 120 rooms of supported accommodation alongside cancer research, prevention and support programs. The building offers a range of private and communal spaces, including bedrooms, kitchen facilities, dining areas, an activity hub, family rooms, and play spaces.

The Challenges

  • Healthcare Facility
  • Multiple occupancies
  • An emergency warning system fully certified to the following Australian standards was required:
    • AS4428.16 (2020)
    • AS4428.4 (2016)
    • AS7240.4 (2018)

The Solution

Ampac provided a tailored fire detection and evacuation system for the facility. The system included Ampac’s EvacUElite Emergency Warning and Intercom System, combined with the FireFinder PLUS Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel.

The EvacUElite features a fully configurable touch-screen user interface, meaning the layout of the Emergency Warning and Emergency Intercom System Control Widgets could be set up in a way that best suited the client. The installation and commissioning can be performed much faster, thanks to many new features, including quick diagnostics of faults, easy zone volume adjustment and a user menu option for on-site sequencing. The solution was installed by the team at Online Fire.

"The EvacUElite was preferred over the old AS2220 system due to its fully configurable touch-screen user interface. We worked together with Ampac to make sure we could be among the first in Australia to install the EvacUElite (the AS4428.16 certificate arrived just in time for installation). The installation was a breeze and it worked effectively straight from the get-go." Dave Clare, Online Fire
