South Australian Sports Institute
Ampac protects the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI).
The new South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) opened in 2024. The brand-new $88 million facility replaces the old building and has been relocated closer to the city in Adelaide.
The SASI serves as a hub for sports, research, and education, providing key infrastructure that supports high-performance athletes and students. The facility includes a gym, an environmental chamber for athletes, a recovery centre, and various laboratories for training and research.
The Challenge
The facility's multifunctional needs necessitated a fire system that was compliant, flexible, user-friendly, and adaptable for a variety of applications.
The Solution
The SASI’s fire system has been installed by Combined Fire and comprises a FireFinder PLUS & EvacU Elite Combo, with 4 loops and 7 zones.
The following devices have been installed:
- 7 WIPS (1 radial WIP and 6 loop-powered WIPs)
- 1 x 50W amplifier
- 3 x dual 25W amplifiers
- 300 devices
- 275 speakers
- Wagner Aspirated Smoke Detection
The Wagner PRO•SENS® has been installed in the gym, where the high ceilings have been fitted with netting to prevent damage to the fire system equipment. ASD was an obvious choice to ensure early detection of smoke, safe and controlled testing and reduction of false alarms and downtime.
The combination of our compliant FIP and EWIS enables savings on multiple levels:
- space (1 cabinet for 2 systems),
- time (faster installation and commissioning thanks to less cabling and a programmable tool for on-site programming),
- and money (less cabling, only one power supply, and a modular approach that lets you choose what you need).
